4 electric car standards take the lead in landing all car companies busy "docking"

January 13, 2021

With the announcement of the new energy vehicle development rules at the end of the month, the first four electric vehicle industries will be quietly announced. Car companies are rushing to adapt to the new standards and formulate production and sales plans based on subsidies. In the context of the country's strong support for the development of the new automotive energy industry, what is projected is the back view of China's automobile industry leading the world in overtaking.

Or "double subsidies" for corporate individuals

The “New Energy Vehicle Promotion Rules”, which is scheduled to be released at the end of the month, have been circulating among the public. The national version of the new energy vehicle subsidy standard is likely to “not only subsidize end individual consumers”. The plan may be "Double Subsidies for Individual Enterprises". This means that every time a new energy vehicle is sold, the state will pay two subsidies. This is not a small effort.

One version of the subsidy that is widely circulated in the market is that the government separates subsidies for "energy-saving vehicles and new energy vehicles". For hybrid models that cannot be recharged externally, the policy will classify them as "energy-saving vehicles", and the subsidy amount will be 3,000 yuan. For "plug-in Electric Vehicles" and "pure electric vehicles", the maximum subsidy amount will reach 60,000 yuan. However, the specific amount of subsidies for enterprises is currently unknown.

According to a recent report released by CIC consultants, due to excessive domestic new energy vehicle prices and relatively small consumer purchases, domestic car companies have been unable to industrialize the new energy vehicle core technologies they have mastered. With the vigorous support of the local government, some foreign automobile manufacturers have already achieved mass production of some new energy vehicle models. Therefore, the relevant domestic government departments have to speed up the formulation of promotion rules for domestic new energy vehicles to help large-scale commercialization of domestic new energy vehicles.

4 electric vehicle standards first landing

Before the announcement of the "New Energy Vehicle Promotion Rules" at the end of the month, an unavoidable question is, what is a new energy vehicle? The relevant ministries are trying to give an answer.

Without warning, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced four industry standards for electric new energy vehicles, including "Electric Vehicle Conductive Charging Interface", "General Requirements for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations", "Electric Vehicle Battery Management System and Four standards including "Communication Protocols Between Off-board Chargers" and "Light Hybrid Electric Vehicle Energy Consumption Test Method" were released "suddenly". In view of the fact that various car companies are still "shouting their flags" for their own standards, the launch of this standard "Lightning" has surprised many car companies. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated on its website that "the formulation of the above standards has laid a foundation for the establishment and improvement of China's new energy vehicle standard system and the further development of the new energy vehicle industry."

Up to now, China has formulated and released 42 national and industry standards related to new energy vehicles, 22 of which have been listed as special inspection standards for new energy vehicle product access.

Li Shengmao, a new energy industry researcher at CIC Consulting, believes that the reason why the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology rushed to publish the relevant electric vehicle industry standards before the detailed rules came out is that on the one hand, it wants to find more suitable models and companies for the supporting subsidy funds of the detailed rules. With the help of electric vehicle related industry standards, the rules will maximize the promotion of new energy vehicles.

Car companies are busy "docking"

A real problem is that before the four standards issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the development of domestic electric vehicles has been "in full swing." The low-carbon version of BYD Auto F3 is sold to individual consumers, and it has launched the first shot of personal consumption of new energy vehicles in China. The subsequent "price increase is difficult to buy" sales situation has surprised the industry.

In fact, the traditional three major automobile groups are also accelerating the layout of new energy automobile products. However, compared with BYD's high-profile, others are very low-key. At the Beijing Auto Show held earlier, new energy products such as SAIC, FAW, Dongfeng, Changan, Chery, Geely and other auto companies all appeared. At the Shanghai World Expo being held, the public transportation vehicles, VIP vehicles, venue vehicles, and sightseeing vehicles in the Expo Park are all new energy vehicles.

In this way, how to connect national standards with enterprise standards has become the most concerned issue in the industry.

"The four standards just issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have made many independent-brand companies unexpected. The charging standard alone shows that the country is implementing a unified charging standard, but each company currently uses its own charging standard. Moreover, some self-owned brands have already launched mass-produced electric vehicles, so there is no uniform specification standard, and it is difficult to promote it nationwide. "An expert who once participated in the discussion of the" Specifications "said.

"Now we are also exploring the details of the standard and the intensity of subsidies. Future product development and sales plans will definitely be formulated around the rules issued at the end of the month." A car company executive revealed that everyone is currently "docking" policies, but Before the specific policy is announced, it is not easy for companies to say anything.

Expert: Can car companies overtake in corners?

From the government department to the enterprise level, they have expressed great support and concern for the industrialization of new energy in automobiles. Obviously, China, which started late in the automobile industry, wants to quickly enter the world's major automobile manufacturing country. New energy is a unique opportunity.

New energy vehicles condense the desire of China's auto industry: Can the "technological leap" of China's auto industry be achieved through the switching of core technologies? Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang said that China's energy conservation and new energy vehicle development are in a period of rare strategic opportunities . The expectation of the possibility of crossing the technical route has increased. The research in the past 10 years has greatly shortened the gap between China's energy-saving and new energy vehicle technology and the international advanced level.

However, while various automakers are preparing to rapidly reduce the gap with the world's automakers through new energy technologies, many people in the industry are "splashing cold water." "New energy vehicles do not have the possibility of overtaking in corners, there are no shortcuts, and they can only do it in a down-to-earth manner." Dong Yang, executive vice president and secretary general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said the truth, "Mastering the core technology of new energy can only Become a real power car in the world.
